The Edinburgh Research Partnership, which links research activities in mathematics and engineering at Heriot-Watt and Edinburgh Universities, was established in 2005. A part of the ERP, the Edinburgh Centre for Subsurface Science and Engineering (ECOSSE) - involving the subsurface geoscience group at Edinburgh University and the whole of IPE staff, plus the British Geological Survey (Scottish Division) and the Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre) - will bring new staff appointments and broaden the research areas of IPE, along with building strong collaborations across all institutions.
