Key Information
Flexibility is one of the key reasons why our MBA, MSc, DBA and other programmes have become so sought after. We offer you three main study options: distance learning, on campus at EBS or through an Approved Learning Partner.
Your perfect combination
Distance learning, on-campus learning or Approved Learning Partners. Which one is right for you? Why not all of them? With Edinburgh Business School you can mix all three. Our study programme options let you combine different elements to suit your own personal circumstances.
Think of it as your own, personally tailored programme.
Distance learning
Every programme we do, every course we offer can be studied from anywhere in the world. Many thousands of students have graduated with Edinburgh Business School entirely through distance learning.
All distance learning programmes are tackled course by course whenever you are ready for them. You will, of course, benefit from the full support of the School throughout.
Distance learning students receive the following:
- Comprehensive course text.
- Interactive course website.
- Web access to Faculty.
- Full use of the EBS Student Services website.
- Optional contact with fellow students.
You are provided with all you require to prepare for exams. There are no additional reading lists or compulsory residentials. You can also apply, if you wish, to take some courses on campus in Edinburgh or with one of our Approved Learning Partners.
On-campus study
Edinburgh is a beautiful city – to visit, to study in. So why not come and see for yourself. As part of Heriot-Watt University, we share a campus on the green edge of the city. Here, students from all over the world attend courses at the School's state-of-the-art teaching facilities and enjoy a whole range of social activities.
You can study specific courses for the MBA, MSc or DBA programmes, or you can study the entire MBA on campus on a full-time or part-time basis. We do expect all students to have spent time studying the course materials prior to the commencement of classes. This makes sure that the time spent with the Edinburgh Business School Faculty can be dedicated to adding value through case studies, simulations and practical applications rather than conventional teaching lectures.
Approved Learning Partner study
If you're not able to come to Edinburgh, then you may enjoy studying with one of our many international Approved Learning Partners (ALPs). Working with one of our Partners is a great way to feel connected to staff and fellow students and can greatly aid distance learning.
Each Partner is approved by Edinburgh Business School and Heriot-Watt University. The partners in the network may be public-sector institutions, or they may be executive development centres catering for business professionals. They might be private institutions looking after the needs of students attending full-time 'taught' courses in a timetabled schedule within a given period (such as 18 months).
The Partners are:
- Approved by Edinburgh Business School and Heriot-Watt University as being appropriate to offer graduate-level courses.
- Regularly reviewed by the School.
- Compliant with local regulations in their country of operation.
