Multidisciplinary Activity In Microsystems And Packaging

Research

Overview

Within a multidisciplinary group, including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical, Electronic and Computing Engineering, Physics and Chemistry within the School a number of projects exist. These projects focus on aspects of operation, design and durability of miniaturised systems. The work has applications in actuation, control and sensing for primarily medical and electronic sectors. Packaging in electronics is an area of research where materials modelling and materials testing (eg thermal stability, tensile strength etc on a miniature scale) are being used to enable predictions of the lifetime of existing materials to be made and novel materials to be developed.
