Academic Life

Welcome to Heriot-Watt

Energy, Sustainability and Climate Change Programmes

The Heriot-Watt portfolio of taught MSc courses increases year-on-year. This prospectus now details 117 named courses . The exciting move from a three-term to a two-semester time table in 2008 provided the opportunity for the University to review and revitalise our programmes.

Our Schools’ interdisciplinary interactions provide innovative courses targeted at crossdiscipline career opportunities. Outstanding amongst the new initiatives are suites of courses addressing issues of energy, sustainability and climate change.

The needs for diverse and renewable sources of energy, energy efficiency and sustainability are well recognised; the impacts of climate change are now fully acknowledged as proving serious threats to the well-being and sustainability of society. Governments are supporting major initiatives to find solutions to mitigate and adapt to predicted changes.
